Why it's called Sport Mode instead of Physics Playground 2

Official Announcement

Some of you may be wondering why the new game is called Sport Mode instead of Physics Playground 2... First of all, Physics Playground was never meant to be an actual game, it was a one-off experimental tech demo of physics in VR. To my own surprise it became very popular and became known as a sandbox game which was not the intention. Sport Mode is meant to stand alone from Physics Playground.

Sport Mode is built upon the systems I developed in Physics Playground, but for all intents and purposes it is meant to be much more than just a sandbox game. The plan since day one for the new game was for it to be competitive and challenging through puzzles, obstacle courses, challenges, and online leaderboards to compete with others with your high scores and fastest times. Some of this can be already seen with the current Arena mode which tracks your score.

It's unfortunate that the rest of the features aren't in yet, but that's why it's in Early Access, to get the game into your hands earlier to provide feedback and help balance things such as difficulty and scoring starting with the Arena mode.
